Thirty Days

Thirty days hath September
April, June, and November,
All the rest have 31
Except February
which messes up the rhyme for me
But really...
On what planet
does 100 strips cover a month's worth of testing??

LOL! These are the same companies that complain about how much they spend on treating DM-related complications, yet they don't want to spend to help patients avoid them, either.

my mom's insurance company allows her 4 test strips per day. I try and send her some extras :)

That would be on the planet Indemnity, a little known, bitterly cold rock in the outer reaches of our solar system. It has two moons, Pharma and Government, but is otherwise isolated from the rest of the solar system.

Seriously, can you get your doc to help by rephrasing the script or have you already tried that and hit the wall?

That stinks, do you have the option to order a three month supply ('90 days') by mail order?

If your insurance provides this option it's usually postage free and the same co-pay as a 1-month supply.

Assuming that you're getting a prescription for 4 strips per day, then you might end up with 350 test strips. Alternately see if you doctor will write you a scrip for 5 strips per day, and write a medical necessity letter for you.

By the way, the planet is qdaribil. That's the verification word I needed for this post.

I have gone round and round with my insurance company about the need to test more than four times a day.
The whole thing is a big fat joke!!
I just pay for them myself and stock pile!

My dilemma was forever solved by the prescription reading "use as directed". The pharmacy will only dispense 200 at a time, but, I am not restricted to a time-frame.

Very frustrating.

As Scott said, they complain about the cost of the long term complications, but won't foot the bill for the preventative tools.

I had the same problem.
I had my 3 month endo appointment today and she wrote me a new perscription to test 6 times per day - 186 strips per month. Two boxes.
Problem solved - I hope...

Bernard: Best use of word verification, ever!

Believe it or not, it was my endo (or her staff) who wrote it for 100 strips. We'll be chatting tomorrow ;)
