Ask for your Senator's offices and ask them to represent you and all of their constituents who have health challenges (temporary or chronic) by voting NO on the "Health Insurance Marketplace Modernization and Affordability Act". Express your concern that state-protected insurance benefits will be lost (check out this list of threatened benefits). It's not just about diabetes!

According to the ADA, this is likely to be a close vote. Letters, phone calls, emails or even visits to your Senator's offices if you can swing it... these things do make a difference.

Extending health insurance coverage to more people who need it is a good idea. But this bill makes insurance more accessible by offering a watered-down version that doesn't help you when you are sick! What's the point of having health insurance if it won't cover you when you need it?! And we all know how important it is to have access to the tools necessary to maintain our diabetes.

Pick up the phone and call today, email, write a letter, or show up at their offices. If you have diabetes (or any other chronic illness, or are a woman, or have a child with special health care needs) and are silent on this issue, this bill will pass.
