What's Your Blood Sugar?
I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that, if you are reading this and you have diabetes, you either know what your blood sugar is or you have the resources to go find out. You have a meter, you have strips. You may have to ration those strips, or you may have had to give up something else to buy that meter. But you have access to the tools you need to at the very least find out your blood sugar.
Today is World Diabetes Day. Think, for a minute, how frustrating it is here in the US to get information, care, and supplies. Imagine what it's like for the disadvantaged and vulnerable of the world.
Swing by Unitefordiabetes.org and add your name to the petition there. While you're there, read about yet another Barton Girl living well with diabetes.
Go on, do it. Then go check your blood sugar.

I read your post just before lunchtime and tested at 246, because of the "breakfast burrito buffet" we had at an office meeting. That number presented me with a few seconds of shame and anger, but they passed. Because of this valuable information, I was easily able to take a correction dose and was back on target in 2 hours. Try doing that 25 years ago...............as we ease into Thanksgiving week, let's try to direct some gratitude to the wonders of science that have made this possible.
Thanks for reminding me.
I couldn't agree more, but many do not and lack the resources to find out. See my recent blog post on this very topic at http://sstrumello.blogspot.com/2006/11/november-14-is-world-diabetes-day.html for details!
